Sailee Charlu

Sailee is a research intern with UCI’s Bilingualism Matters California Initiative, studying how dual-language immersion, culturally sustaining pedagogy, and arts-based instruction strengthen biliteracy and civic engagement for multilingual learners. Her research is forthcoming in the Educational Role of Language International Journal and Contemporary Economic Policy Journal. She also supports dual language immersion initiatives at OC Department of Education’s Multilingual Academic Services and contributes to the California Department of Education’s forthcoming translanguaging guidance. She founded the Habla Futures Initiative, encompassing Habla Arte and The Lit League, bilingual nonprofits using visual arts and spoken poetry to bridge language barriers across Title I schools internationally.
